A cinnamon roll is usually delicious — layers of dough, cinnamon and icing. Add a layer of bacon and you take it to a whole new level.

It’s all those yummy Sunday morning breakfasts with cinnamon rolls and bacon all in one easy bite. It’s way more convenient than eating the two separately, let’s face it. It’s also just plain scrumptious. I’m talking melt in your mouth good.

Cinnamon rolls with a strip of bacon rolled in them are probably one of the best bacon inventions that people have come up with. The simplicity of the recipe is one of the best things about the bacon cinnamon roll. It’s easy enough that a very sleep-deprived college student can probably make this at any time of day... even one in the morning.

It’s convenient, and you get a good start to the morning without all the dreaded dishes. A college student can’t ask for much more. Most notably, there is no annoying skillet with bacon grease in it, nobody likes dealing with the drippings, no matter how much they like bacon.

Since this was one of the most sensible of all the recipes, I was anxious to see how it turned out.

Needless to say, I was completely satisfied and I would recommend that all bacon lovers try this at some point — especially people who love icing, too. You can’t beat the icing, so adding bacon to it makes it a bacon lover’s heaven.

Ingredients:

1 tube of cinnamon rolls (they come in tubes of 5 and 8)

5-8 strips of bacon (or more, if you choose)

icing

Preparation:

Unroll the cinnamon rolls and lay one piece of bacon (or more, depending on how much you like bacon) on the strip of dough and roll it back up. There might be some stray cinnamon stuck to the pan, so if you really love the cinnamon you might have to scrape it off the pan and wipe it back on the roll.

Baking:

Follow the baking instructions on the tube. When you pull the rolls out, ice them to taste and enjoy!
