Awards

The Creightonian and its writers, editors, designers and photographers have won national, regional and state awards, including being named a finalist for the 2007 Pacemaker Award, one of the top awards in college journalism.

Photographers Beth Costigan and Miguel Cedillo and sports writer Steven Henneberry earned awards in the regional Society of Professional Journalists Mark of Excellence awards in 2008.

In 2007 and 2008, the Creightonian was named top college newspaper in Nebraska in the Nebraska Press Association contest. Staff members won numerous individual awards.

In 2008, the judges gave special recognition to the Creightonian’s special sections, which covered the NCAA Tournament, Special Olympics, Going Green and College Relationships. The judges noted the quality graphics, presentation and informative reporting in the special sections: “The Creightonian tackled a variety of subjects -- and did so with top-notch photos, graphics, layouts and solid reporting. By far, the staff produced the most complete, readable packages of any of the entries."
